This medal belongs to you as my viewer or reader. It belongs to the Yukon, which gave me the space and the silence to find my voice. It belongs to Canada, which opened its arms and said: you are welcome here, and what you carry matters.

I have loved the joy you project in your dance and your message of unity, compassion and kindness. Thank you for sharing your gift and your perspective. I am proud we are fellow Canadians.
Gurdeep you are so worthy of all the recognition you get in what ever form it comes. Your spirit is felt wherever you go or in what ever you write. Your words and dance inspire us all to strive to become better people in our thoughts and actions. You teach us how our humanity joins us together in every way, you force us to look deeply into our souls and expose us to who we can be if we just believe that we count, just as our fears, sadness and all that we experience. You teach us that happiness and joy is up to us to carry even though you may feel a little low or are going through tough times. You teach us that you never give in to negative thoughts or feelings, let them exist along side of us in that they also deserve to be recognized however they must be only visitors that shouldn’t over stay their welcome. Thank you for caring so much for all of us, there aren’t many of us that would take on such an onerous task. Keep doing what you are doing because it counts.
