My eyes, once constantly filled with tears of sorrow and clouded by sadness, gradually transformed —they started to radiate with an unmistakable sparkle of pure joy.
Absolutely... Struggling for several decades (81years old now), I slowly started a daily gratitude journal, listening to my favourite joyful music of all genres, dancing around my tiny cold basement apartment in Vancouver, and starting to laugh out loud. Not caring if one seems 'silly' to others - very freeing. And I'm glad to have found you doing freezing cold Bhangra dancing . My arthritis doesn't allow me to do the hopping on one foot part - still, I move my arms around, my legs out and about, happier!!
Thank you, Celia, for sharing your inspiring journey! It's wonderful to hear how you've embraced movement and joy despite challenges. Your approach of combining gratitude journaling, music, and dancing is so wonderful.
Looking at the sky, clouds block out the sun however each day we wake up alive and healthy and look to the sky we recognize how fortunate we truly are. Like the clouds that block out the sun our negative moods bolstered by our unhealthy words can act to blind us to the wonders of our lives. I choose to concentrate on the natural beauty of nature, it’s reality opens my mind to the greater possibilities that we can reach if we just realize what is important, not money, fame, power or things. The true richness of life surrounds us each day, all of it created for us to enjoy and to bring joy to us.
I’m a new subscriber, and I’m so happy to have found your Substack! Joy is truly a practice, and I approach it each day with an open heart. Thank you. 🙏
Thank you so much for reminding me, in a truly personally challenging year, that each moment presents a choice. To choose to be stuck and held down by experiences or to allow them to flow through and over us like a river.
My basket is replenished with feelings of Joy and empower of hope after reading your posts and viewing your dance!! I celebrate these times across the miles from my homeplace 🤍🇨🇦🍁
Thank you, Cathy, for sharing such beautiful sentiments and warmth. I am glad that despite being miles from your home place, you celebrate these special times.
I love this- I agree - when focusing on gratitude and joy - my attitude shifts and I have a much better day! Thank you for continuing to share your journey and your encouragement.
Nice one Gurdeep. I used to teach my students that any word can be a swear word depending on how you use it. Our language not only defines us but it also contributes to our growth while impacting the growth of others.
Thanks, Robert, for your input. I agree that words change their meanings based on how you use them. Positive words and their thoughtful use yield positive results.
Thank you so much for these inspiring words- it is so easy these days to get discouraged with everything going on- this really helped me & your dancing always makes me happy!💖
Thanks, Claire, for your words! I understand that there is so much going on in this world. It is good to be compassionate, but at the same time, we should treat joy as a balancing force that helps us be more effective in helping those who need our support.
Thank you, Stacy, for your kind feedback! There's likely a Bhangra dance group in your area—you can find one through internet searches or Facebook groups.
