Sounds, Sweat, and Sentiments of Joy through Movement in Parry Sound, Ontario
The local community of Parry Sound responded with overwhelming joy and it was a heart-touching experience
During my time in Parry Sound, I had the opportunity to conduct a Bhangra dance workshop in collaboration with the local arts organization Festival of the Sound at the Stockey Centre. The workshop was heart-touching, and the joyous response from the local community was overwhelming.
I firmly believe that joy is an essential ingredient of life, especially during tough times. As such, I am honoured to say that attendees of my workshop have expressed how my videos bring them joy, and I can see the joy-seeking spirit in their eyes. The world needs more joy - joy that can connect us, create caring for each other, build community, and be shared with others. Joy is healing and powerful, and it is essential for our well-being.
During the workshop, I was moved by the love shown by the attendees. Even senior citizens, despite the hot day and physical demands of Bhangra dancing, were eager to try and dance with me. The resilience and enthusiasm that they displayed were truly impressive. I was also humbled that many of them approached me for conversations and selfies, some even holding my hand as they spoke to me. From the bottom of my heart, I was moved by this kind of warmth.
I would like to invite you to watch the full video to experience the joy sentiment that emanates from the many hearts of Parry Sound! The video, created by Big Lake Cinematic, Parry Sound, and Muskoka, showcases the beauty and diversity of the community and captures the essence of the Bhangra dance workshop.
