Thank you for sharing a beautifully transformational and thoughtful read. And, as usual, the dancing made my heart skip along happily as you and your new friend shared your joy-filled steps with each other. Namaste.

Thank you for this well written post. Perspective is everything. A big influence in our world view these days seems to be media.....and if we do not step away to be curious, to think, it has the power to pull me into negative thinking. Being curious, thinking about who we are, where we come from, is important, and to be thankful for what we do have, and we often discover we have more than enough. Blessings!

A wonderfully thoughtful and poignant writing. I think most people don't even realize that most of our perspectives are forced on us without even knowing it. Also unrealized is that when we recognize this, we can change, as you say Gurdeep. We find it so hard to admit that some of the things our parents taught us are wrong for you, wrong for this time in space. It seems this is just how it works. Parents do their best, but all, though their given perspectives give their kids things that are wrong for their future self. We must give ourselves permission to change the way we look at things to suit what is going on in each of our(and our kids if you have them) lives. We tend to be taught how to view he world in two ways- either fear, or wonder. Let us bring back wonder! It is the basis for an enlightened being, seeing wonder in the ordinary. Oh Gurdeep! You always make me think in ways that, in the pure survival of life, I tend to forget. Thank you Guru!

I wish that everyone understood that they already know and like a migrant person, regardless of how they "got here". We are them. They are here. The lies about people who live and work and keep trying each day to live securely and provide for their family are being revealed, but not fast enough. Thank you for your wisdom.

It’s all about perspective. Gurdeep, I completely agree with what you wrote, perspective can truly shape whether life feels easier or more painful. While reading your paragraph on migration, I remember a recent encounter with a Musqueam resident at work. She was the first person from the community I’ve met who showed a strong sense of entitlement or maybe deep pain behind it. She yelled, “You’re on my land,” and I froze. I didn’t know how to respond. I panicked and couldn’t breathe properly for an hour. Her words made me question: Is this really her land? As you said, if we trace our roots, all our ancestors have migrated from somewhere. Her view felt narrow, and I sensed she was hurting.

Loved the dance mash-up! 💝🙏🏽

I am sorry for your experience, dear friend. Nobody should occupy or colonize any land, and nobody should feel entitled to any land. Thanks for your kind thoughts!

Terrific article, Gurdeep! First, I want to say how much I enjoy the picture at the beginning of the article. It could become a painting. Next, thank you for discussing something true to my situation. I need to change my perspectives. I took the course CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Mindfulness). It was great but I wasn’t able to extend it past the classes. My fault. My depression got in the way. However, I highly recommend anyone to take one of the CBT courses. You’re definitely right, you have to have an open mind in order to change your perspectives into something rewarding, even if by a little. But I don’t think it comes naturally after that. I think we need to be shown examples. Examples need to be pointed out from real life, a book, a movie, and/or a TV show. I learn by examples, anyway. Great video! I can’t believe how high you both can kick and still keep your balance!
