Happy New Year 2025—A Message
Together we can build a better world by treating others with the same respect and peace we seek for ourselves.
The year 2024 brought significant changes to my life's journey. The most transformative was bidding farewell to my beloved cabin, my home for half a decade. This wasn't a decision I made lightly—after spending five meaningful years there, following my time in another cabin before that, I felt an inner calling to embrace new experiences and perspectives.
My time in that cabin was magical—it served as a sanctuary where I formed an intimate connection with the natural world. Each morning, I would venture into the forest, immersed in a living tapestry of wildlife: birds soaring overhead, majestic trees swaying in the breeze, and woodland creatures going about their daily routines. The pristine air filled my lungs with indescribable freshness, a daily reminder of nature's pure essence. What made this experience even more remarkable was witnessing nature's ever-changing palette—not just from day to day, but hour to hour, with colors shifting with each passing minute.
Despite all this beauty, I began to sense it was time for a new chapter. I came to realize that comfort, particularly when extended over time, can become an invisible barrier to personal growth. It can limit our perspective and prevent us from seeing life through new lenses. The departure was emotionally challenging—I had developed a deep attachment to this peaceful sanctuary. Like all meaningful goodbyes, leaving was bittersweet. Yet, as I drove toward my new destination, the sight of majestic mountains and serene lakes reminded me that natural beauty and joy exist abundantly throughout the universe, waiting to be discovered.
Looking back, I'm grateful that this transition coincided with completing my book. Many of its pages were written within the cabin's walls, while others emerged during my wanderings through various landscapes. I'm thrilled to share that the book is now complete, though readers will need to wait until 2026 for its publication.
But there's another crucial matter I must discuss about our world and society. The year 2024 has seen an unprecedented rise in social division. Through social media and news outlets, I've watched people growing increasingly distant from one another, with anger and hostility becoming more common. Most troubling has been the growing acceptance of hatred, which often stems from fear—fear fueled by messages circulating on social media and news platforms. Various voices—religious leaders, politicians, and community figures—sometimes spread misleading information for personal gain. These narratives often touch our most vulnerable points, triggering immediate emotional responses rather than thoughtful consideration.
My dear friends, I want to emphasize this crucial point: these divisive messages are often merely unfounded rumours. We must understand that certain individuals, driven by their own agendas, deliberately create these divisions. The tragedy of hate is that it damages everyone, including those who spread it. As we learn from these experiences, let's make 2025 a year of unity—embracing people from all walks of life, cultures, backgrounds, regions, and religious beliefs. We're all simply human beings learning to coexist in our vast global family.
I firmly believe there exists only one race—the human race. This isn't just a pleasant sentiment; it's a fundamental truth we must embed deeply in our consciousness. The concept of multiple races is an artificial construct, created by various individuals—whether some politicians, religious leaders, or community figures to serve their own interests. The reality is that we are all interconnected members of the same human family.
Another significant observation from 2024 has been the increasing hostility toward immigrants and newcomers, which deserves careful consideration. Throughout human history—whether we look back 1,000 years, 2,000 years, or even further—human migration has been constant. People have always relocated in search of better opportunities, whether for food, work, water, or countless other reasons. This movement across continents and regions is deeply woven into human existence. If we trace our family histories back several centuries or millennia, we invariably find that our ancestors also migrated.
Consider the widely accepted theory that humanity originated in Africa—this means all human populations resulted from ancient migrations. This pattern of relocation is fundamental to our evolutionary journey—moving from place to place in pursuit of necessities: sustenance, water, shelter, improved living conditions, or simply the desire to explore. There's no logical reason to resist this natural human tendency. We are all, in essence, citizens of the universe. The artificial boundaries we call countries were established purely for administrative purposes—they don't reflect any natural division of humanity. Like birds and other animals, humans are naturally inclined to move, flow, and explore their environment. Instead of creating barriers to this movement, we should embrace it as natural and beneficial.
By working together and supporting one another, we can create a better world for everyone. True joy, hope, and positivity flourish when we allow others the same peaceful existence we desire for ourselves.
With these thoughts in mind, I extend my warmest wishes for a Happy New Year—may 2025 bring you boundless happiness, positivity, joy, love, wonder, and above all, peace.

What a truly beautiful message capturing the essence of life so succinctly. I resonated deeply with every point you've made... embracing change, recognizing the strategies of leaders behind polarization, understanding humanity, and addressing the discrimination faced by immigrants.
Gurdeep! You've articulated it all so beautifully in your words. Thank you for sharing this wisdom. Wishing you abundant Joy, positivity and love as we step into 2025! 💝🎉🙏🏽
PS: I’m eagerly looking forward to the release of your book! 😇
I enjoyed this very much, Gurdeep and it all rings very true. There is much to ponder and think on here.
One point I wished to especially highlight is that we are all migrants and refugees. If we were born where we now live than we are often only one or two generations from our migrant/refugee ancestors. (Indigenous peoples excepted).
I myself am the son of an Indian father and and Scandanavian mother. We are truly all only one disaster, whether political, climate, economic or conflict, away fron becoming refugees and migrants, having to migrate away from our homes and take refuge in another place. This is something to bear in mind when we encounter anybody who is one of the 1 in 69 people in the world who is on the move roday. Welcome the stranger.
My friend, may I say how much I enjoy listening to you speak. Your tones bring me back to when my Indian grandmother would speak to me. This still brings warm memories even at my age of 67.
Blessings, Gurdeep and thank you....Paul
