We have become so polarized. Social media is a wonderful thing, but it allows us to limit streams to only those who think the same; blocking or muting those who do not. Neutral forms of journalism that provide only facts are few and far between. Listening to, and thinking about other opinions is a hard skill to learn if the input is always one sided.

Agree wholeheartedly. I believe it's no coincidence that we have two ears and only one mouth.

Our society today is losing their way distracted by material things and competition with others. We’ve forgotten humanity and swapped it out for greed and ego. Who has the biggest house, who is the favoured one at our jobs , who has the best car and so on. Our greed is blinding us to the purpose of our existence. This is all being demonstrated by the intolerance and lack of courtesy we find when we jump into our cars and hit the road. Everyone is too focused on the brass ring sacrificing morals and love chasing their dream of having. Until we become focused on humanity we will be forever lost in our greed and ignorance. It is most important to recognize that we are all the same as human beings however we need different things to make us feel appreciated and recognized as important as someone else. Our society doesn’t prepare us to be helpful to others and recognize the differences that we all possess but rather it teaches us that money is our god , it gives us the privileges that others cannot obtain. I hope that through all this anarchy that envelopes our world today we will open our minds to the fact that our existence as people has a greater purpose than the self serving society that exists today. Power over others and self destruction is not the path to enlightenment but a spiral into oblivion. Spread love , joy , hope and positivity.

“Listen to understand”— what an insightful statement! There’s so much noise/distraction in today’s world. I fear many have forgotten the ability to really listen, to be present in the moment, to take the time. Some have yet to develop that skill. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, positivity and your enjoyable dance videos! Many thanks.

Thank you for sharing this- its very true we are often too busy to listen always trying to formulate the right response. When we take time to listen to those around us without trying to push our own narrative, we can learn so much more about others. We do need to listen more and learn, which leads to more understanding - and more kindness.

Empathy is key. It needs to be part of worldwide curricula; as important as reading and math. This foundational skill can not be left to chance acquisition. Thanks for bringing this truth to our attention Mr.P.

“Finally, we need to cultivate a culture of idea exchange, where we not just impose our own thoughts and opinions, but value and take into consideration the opinions of others.” In my experience, this is very challenging because our society does not like feelings of being uncomfortable. Much easier to argue and dig into your beliefs. So much harder to continue speaking with someone whose thoughts and values clash with your own. Thanks for the reminder.
