Wow! So surprising. Everyone usually talks about how to connect to people and the world around us. But it is also important to disconnect from everything around us, as you mention here. Unplug for a little while. I’m usually in solitude. I can’t handle the outside influences and world events. Thank you for your article, Gurdeep!

Gurdeep, I love this piece, as you encourage us to sift through what we intake, and look for the "metaphorical gold nugget' amidst all of the noise and news and input we encounter. I agree too, that does not mean we should ignore all the bad news around us -- there are many important happenings and causes we need to attend to -- but we do, however, as you say, need to "create deliberate periods of disconnection", so we can replenish and find joy and stay strong, so that we can attend to that which we deem important. Another important message from you, Gurdeep!

The first thing that caught my attention was your photo! It radiates such warm energy, even though you’re lying on the snow. There’s something captivating about the way you’re gazing at the vastness of the sky. A truly beautiful shot!

Your article is equally intriguing, especially with its emphasis on disconnecting from world news or being selective about it. I loved your use of the “gold nuggets” metaphor…it’s so fitting. You’ve highlighted an important point about being mindful of what we allow into our minds through news, social media, and other sources. With so much information available, not filtering it can indeed lead to distress and discomfort, as you have mentioned.

I’m so glad and grateful that you chose to address this topic. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's true and so important. I have been spending so much time being plugged in lately… and for mostly good reasons, trying to improve as a writer, connecting with people, etc. However, in doing that, I expose myself to all the negativity surrounding the media; politics, especially. Being a sensitive person, it’s easy to fall into a dark hole when I’m more immersed in all of that. I spent a few hours last night drawing and talking with my ten-year old. I went to bed feeling much lighter than I’ve felt for some time. ☺️

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Indeed, even with the best intentions, the internet can easily lead us down negative paths. I'm so glad to hear you spent meaningful time drawing and conversing with your ten-year-old last night.

Beautiful words this AM.. I so agree with your statement “ the profound peace and tranquility of the natural environment stirred something deep within me, inspiring feelings of warmth and joy that manifested in spontaneous, flowing movements” ..💖 nature is also where I also go when feeling the negativity of the world, for the forest fairies and energy of the trees is all I need to re adjust my thinking 🥰 thank you

Thank you, such a wonderful way to show that disconnection is as important as connection. Navigating this online world of instant connection is not easy, it can rob us of making and keeping real connections. It is a balance, one which time spent alone, unplugged, doing something that feeds the soul is so important. The disconnection you speak of is actually a deep connection to the devine. When all the noise is removed and we "disconnect", if we allow it, we will connect to a very deep, strong healing presence. You are a wonderful example of how joyful life can be when we experience this deep connection. Thank you for allowing us in. ❤️
