This is such a valuable lesson for all of us in these troubled times. People are feeling frightened, saddened, hopeless and angry. Your advice is a tangible way to refocus our energy. I personally have rediscovered how listening to music I love can bring me from any of those states back to, while perhaps not joy, but at least calmness. We’re also walking our dog more often and longer each day, no matter how cold. Being outside really helps most of all. Thank you Gurdeep and once again thank you for choosing Canada as your home 🇨🇦❤️

Controlling what we pay attention to - what I pay attention to - is helping me keep a more positive outlook, more loving-myself behaviours, and building new routines in my daily life. Saw a 'left-over' yellow rose bud yesterday on my walk, making me smile as I touched it gently and walked on. Saw a hummingbird which comes by almost every morning and finds 'something' to eat on the evergreens in front of my apartment, then flits-flits away. Little moments. I find them more often now. They build more resilience in my attitudes, I think... Glad I found your writings and bhangra dancing, Gurdeep - reminding me I am in control of my feelings. Cheers!

Hi Celia, it’s truly beneficial to redirect our attention towards positive aspects. It’s wonderful that you receive a visit from a hummingbird every day. That’s such a sweet experience.

Thank you, Gurdeep! My mother always emphasised the distinction between happiness as an emotion versus joy as a state of being. You can feel many emotions through the day but still remain joyful :) watching your videos are part of my practice of joy!

Your mother has really great insights. I think this distinction you outlined is remarkable.

Thank you Gurdeep, I appreciate the nuance you used in explaining that we can look for joy every day, but it is unrealistic to expect that we will be joyous at all times.

I am guilty of allowing the events of the world to bring up anger and despair in the moment but I try to bring myself back to a state of peace by walking, doing art, reading, watching the birds at the bird feeder or just being in nature.

These emotions are natural to experience, and it's wonderful that you center yourself through walking, creating art, reading, watching birds, or simply being in nature.

Choosing to let joy visit me today. Thank you, Gurdeep. And thanks for the video. I particularly liked seeing that you were a bit winded after the Bhangra dancing. This is reassuring to me, as you always appear to do this so effortlessly.
