Some people set standards for themselves that are to lofty to reach, this in itself leads to feelings of failure. Social media is not meant to take the responsibility from us or to motivate us. In fact social media was designed for us to compare our own lives to what we see, read or try to mimic. These algorithms were engineered to keep us going back for that barometric comparison that feeds our own sense of wanting to belong to what is trending, as if to try anything to reach our own standards. We should be reasonable in what we expect for ourselves from life discerning fact from fiction in comparison to our common sense and trust ourselves to know what we need or what’s good for us. Social media can never be relied on to act as our road map however it can be used for entertainment and of course to follow Gurdeep’s enlightenment.

Very wise words, Nick! Thanks for sharing! I greatly appreciate it. So meaningful when you say, "These algorithms were engineered to keep us going back for that barometric comparison that feeds our own sense of wanting to belong to what is trending..."

To quote you, Gurdeep, “ Have you ever found yourself mindlessly scrolling through social media, when suddenly an engaging video captures your attention? Perhaps it's someone performing an impressive outdoor workout routine…” You’re talking about you! You’re the impressive outdoor dance routine that gave me inspiration to not be so down in the dumps all the time! Thank you for being you, Gurdeep!

I really appreciate your nudge towards discernment.

Let us be socially inspired while also self-directed and soul led…

I needed to read this today on this beautiful Sunday where I can get pulled in many directions…

Asking myself what is best for me to focus on next…?

The Buddhists believe that attachment is the cause of all suffering. It is my experience that it is ego consciousness that causes the attachment... the prodigal journey. Seek through attaching to the physical world and substance as your source of fulfillment and suffer, seek to attach to people as your source of fulfillment and suffer, seek to glorify one's self and attach to self glorification and suffer....the outward prodigal journey.

The ego wants to remain apart from Creator God.

Be Self Realized and rely on Creator God within you; identify yourself as the omnipresent, omniscient. omnipotent to provide for you fully, especially when you set your intention to serve your community and all of your needs will be abundantly provided for.

Identifying as anything less than a part of the omnipresent Creator God diminishes you...

Sat Sri Akaal...Namaste. You are indeed made in God's image.

Well said and written! Attachment to outcomes is living in the future which is a ghost. Suffering occurs inevitably when the wanted outcome is not realized. Such a simple concept but the mind is not so simple to control. Namaste !
